Case of Mutilation of a Person with Mental Disorders in Garut, Perpetrator Cuts Victim’s Body into 12 Parts then Offers It to Residents

Erus (23), the perpetrator of mutilation in Garut, West Java, reportedly offered parts of the victim’s body to nearby residents. This incident occurred after the perpetrator cut the victim’s body parts on Jalan Raya Cibalong, Kampung Bantar Limus, Desa Sancang, Kecamatan Cibalong, Kabupaten Garut, West Java, on Sunday (30/6/2024). Garut Police Chief Investigator AKP Ari Rinaldo stated that the perpetrator cut the victim’s body into 12 parts. He said one of the victim’s body parts was placed in an old sack, while the torso, hip, and legs of the victim were left on the ground.

“There are 12 parts of the body, torso, hip, while the hands are each in three parts, and the legs too,” he said to the media on Tuesday (2/7/2024).

AKP Ari also said that the perpetrator had offered the victim’s body parts to nearby residents by brandishing parts of the victim’s flesh. According to witness statements, the suspect offered it by saying ‘new meat’ to the residents around the location.

According to him, the victim’s identity is still unknown, and the police are still conducting further investigations. The victim’s body has now been buried at Permakaman Santiong, Kecamatan Banyuresmi.

“Regarding the condition of the suspect who is currently undergoing examination at RS Sartika Asih, we are still waiting for the results,” said Ari. Ari revealed that Erus had difficulty communicating, so the police have not been able to conduct a more in-depth investigation.

“There are several things we need to take to a psychiatrist or mental health expert first. So that later the statements from the suspect can be accounted for,” he explained.

### Suspected to Have Mental Disorders, Garut Mutilation Suspect Remains a Suspect
Regarding the knife used by the suspect, AKP Ari said the knife was suspected to have been obtained from a house left by its owner. The house was often used as a storage warehouse or a place to make tools.

“The suspect got the sharp weapon if we estimate it from the crime scene. Because the house is a blacksmith, meaning a place where sharp weapons are made,” he said.

### Suspect Referred to RS Sartika Asih Bandung
The suspect in the murder and mutilation case in Kampung Bantar Limus, Desa Sancang, Kecamatan Cibalong, Garut, West Java, with the initials R, was referred to RS Sartika Asih Bandung. Garut Police Public Relations Officer Iptu Adi Susilo said that initially, R was taken to RSU dr Slamet Garut. However, after the examination, he was finally referred to another hospital.

“Yesterday, he was taken to RSU dr Slamet Garut and referred to RS Sartika Asih Bandung for observation,” said Adi when confirmed on Tuesday (2/7).

The police want to ensure the mental condition of suspect R because R is suspected to be a person with mental disorders (ODGJ).

“Yes, for mental health examination,” he said.

Residents of Kampung Bantar Limus were shocked by the discovery of several human body parts that had been cut up on Sunday (30/6) afternoon.

The police found several body parts suspected to be from a male victim. Among them were arms and legs that had been cut and placed in a sack.

Now, R has been named a suspect and charged under Article 340 of the Criminal Code, subsidiary Article 338 of the Criminal Code, and/or Article 351 paragraph 3 of the Criminal Code.

The gruesome murder case that occurred in Kampung Banter Limus, Desa Sancang, Kecamatan Cibalong, Kabupaten Garut, West Java (Jabar) by a suspect who allegedly suffered from mental disorders (ODGJ) is slowly being revealed.

The suspect executed the victim, who was also ODGJ, using a sharp object in the form of a knife. According to police information, the knife was obtained by the suspect from a blacksmith’s workshop or place where knives and machetes are made.

Garut Police Chief Investigator AKP Ari Rinaldo stated that the suspect took the knife when the blacksmith was not at the location. In an unguarded situation, the suspect broke the door to enter the blacksmith’s workshop.

Additionally, Ari stated that bloodstains from the victim were found in the area, including soiling the disorganized blacksmith’s clothes.

“There are 12 parts, from hands, legs, for the body still intact with the head, and others,” he explained.

The police have collected all the scattered body parts of the victim, which are now at the morgue of RSUD dr Slamet Garut.

The police and forensic experts are currently conducting an autopsy on the victim of the ODGJ mutilation case at RSUD dr Slamet Garut.

Previously, it was reported that residents around Jalan Raya Cibalong, Kampung Babakan Limus, Desa Sancang, Kecamatan Cibalong were shocked by the discovery of body parts suspected to be from a mutilation victim on Sunday (30/6/2024).

The mutilation victim was later said to be ODGJ. He was allegedly killed by his friend, also suspected to be ODGJ, with the initials E.

Before killing and mutilating the victim, E first tied the victim’s hands. The suspect then dragged the victim towards the bushes around the location.
